TwO WeeKs DoWn.......
and hopefully many more to come.
but, for today, we are thankful for these past two weeks.
doc reminded me that i was still preggo...DUH.
and that we accomplished what we had set out too.
YET AGAIN.
the boys are some active little ones.
the sono lady kept commenting on how active they were.
with a smile on her face.
she said she 'LOVED seeing babies move like this.'
made my heart happy too.
let's see...baby A decided he didn't like his right foot hanging out in mid air anymore.
he decided to place it right next to his left foot.
IN MY PELVIS.
thanks baby A, appreciate the double kicks 'down there.'
baby b is in the same position.
fluid levels in both sacs were A+.
all organs looked great.
think we got some healthy little beetles in there!
hopefully they REALLY like being in there.
and don't decide to come out.
ANYTIME SOON!
moving on to my 'aw-ha' moment i had yesterday.....
alan, jen & carson came to visit us this weekend.
it was good having company.
it was the 2nd time in two weeks that i got ready.
like, did my hair.
put on a decent outfit.
and EVEN makeup.
alan & jen: adam thanks you tremendously.
he was beginning to wonder if his 'before prego' wife still existed.
for those of you that do not know - jen is an RN and works in the NICU.
WOW, THAT'S HANDY!
ok - long story short.
for several weeks now - like SEVERAL weeks.
the babies 'move' positions, in which makes them bulge in my belly.
this lasts for about 15-30 seconds each time they 'move.'
it takes my breath away.
it is semi painful.
my belly looks deformed when they 'move.'
as i am explaining this to jen, she calmly said, 'those are contractions.'
WHAT?!?!?
me: no way. it's just them 'moving.'
jen: umm...no, it is your uterus contracting, your babies have nowhere to go, but UP (bulge).
me: PANIC.
me: denial.
me: shocked.
jen: get out your what to expect when your expecting book.
braxton hicks contractions:
feels like a tightening sensation that begins at the top of your uterus (YEP) and then spreads downward, lasting from 15 - 30 seconds (YEP). if you check out your belly while you're having a BH, you might even be able to see what you're feeling; your usually round abdomen might appear pointy or strangely bunched up (YEP).
WOW - i have been having BH's for WEEKS now without even knowing it.
after the shock of it all wore off....
i began to feel really stupid.
shouldn't i have known about this?
why didn't i research this?
oh well - what's done is done.
i know now, thanks to jen!
yes, i shared this too with the doc today.
he wasn't that concerned.
if i've been having them this long without going into labor.
why worry about them now?
AGREED.
he did give me a prescription for procardia.
sps'd to stop the contractions.
he wasn't a HUGE fan of it.
i don't think i am either.
for now, i'm not going to take it.
IF i have 6 or more in an hour.
consecutively.
then call.
his rule of thumb:
'if something is abnormal to YOU and you deem it worthy to call to tell me; then call, but i can't check out your vagina over the phone, so be ready to come in.'
YES, that is straight from my doc's mouth.
i love him.
adam does too.
so, here we are...week 3 of bed rest.
today we are: 29w 4d.
still going strong.
thank you for the continued thoughts & prayers.
i am so thankful for each & every email, text & phone call.
i couldn't be getting through this without each one of you!
you look beautiful alicia! you guys are in our prayers. can't wait to meet those precious boys!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I love reading your blog! Second, you look great! Third, i'm so glad to hear the good report from your doctor visit! BH are a very strange thing and I didn't know what they were the first time I had them. That is how you will know the difference between those and real contractions - with BH your not sure what it is, just something different, with real contractions they can't be anything else! Hopefully you won't feel those for several more weeks to come. Hang in there!
ReplyDeletelinds- thanks girl...i don't feel beautiful anymore. i dream about the day i can get back in a gym. BUT, i know it's all going to be worth it!!! I can't WAIT to see your pics...seriously, what happened to you and taking pics of your belly during this journey???
ReplyDeletePS - you're having a baby VERY VERY soon!!! =)
Jamie- thanks & thanks! yes, these BH are very weird things. again, can't believe i didn't know what was going on. oh well. i do now!
how great it is to have a nurse in the family -yeah jen!! i do believe the boys have grown since we saw you 2 evenings ago. we're so proud that you've perfected your bedrest skills the way you have & how great that the boys are appreciating it too! love your blog & you're the bestest =) p.s. glad you're not taking the procardia.
