half birthday

SIX months ago....

i became a mother.
we became a family.
my heart became full. instantly. from the first cry.
i felt a love that i had never felt before.
my dreams became reality.
my two boys made me whole.

oh how they have changed in a mere SIX months.
they are becoming big boys.
i noticed this last night.
for some reason...
it hit me.
while watching them sleep so peacefully in their cribs.
i noticed they are getting big.
it makes me sad.
REALLY sad.
they are my babies and always will be.
right?!?
big or small.
always my baby boys!

highlights of the last month.
we got some big ones.
to go along with them becoming big boys.
sigh.
  • we went from a 3 hour schedule to a 4 hour one {this is BIG time}.
  • we started solids {this is also BIG time}.
  • holden is rolling.

4 hour schedule:

i was hesitant to switch to this...it's the control freak in me. i wouldn't know what to expect, how my days were going to go, etc. thanks to my fellow twiny mom, stacey, for coaching and reassuring me that i would LOVE it. indeed. indeed i/we do! probably the best thing that has happened to us since they were 9wks old and started sttn.
with this, we went from 5 bottles a day to just 4...WOW, doesn't seem like a big deal, but trust...IT IS! they take two 2-2.5 naps a day with a cat nap in the late afternoon. they seem to LOVE this schedule - guess they like the longer naps vs the shorter ones? my day seems to fly by even more so now.

we are in LOVE with you, 4 hour schedule!

rock'n the solids:

we started the solids the same day we made the big schedule switch. go big or go home....i guess is our moto around here. so far, we have had: butternut squash, pees & sweet potatoes. all are home made by me. and can i just say, i LOVE doing it! it gives me some sort of crazy satisfaction knowing what my babies are eating. that what i am putting in their lil' mouths is not full of preservatives; it's healthy and yummy too. PLUS, it's fun and oh-so-EASY. AND...i'm making my brother proud!

my friend, beth, referred to her home made baby food as her labor of love. i agree. and think that sums it up perfectly!

ledger can not get enough food! he screams if i don't get it to him fast enough. and screams when we are finished. he's ALWAYS been my eater!
holden eats everything...he just doesn't get as excited as brother.

holden's roll'n:

we knew he would do it. they are sps'd to be able to roll front to back and back to front by their SIX month b.day. well, little man showed NO interest in this whatsoever....until last week.

and now, he won't stop! they say this is the trend. they tell me to hold on. the crawling and walking and running only gets better and more fun {total sarcasm}.

I'M NOT READY!!!

SIX months.
how can it be?
they say it goes by fast and to cherish every moment.
they aren't joking.
in SIX more months - i will be posting about their BIG b.day.
I'M NOT READY!
but, i am ready for them to continue to bless each and every day i have with them.
they are my world.
i love them so much it literally hurts!

happy SIX month birthday little men.
thanks for being such good babies for your mommy.
