i did it.

i stood my ground for soooo long.
day after day listening to the comments.
day after day having the same convo with the hubs.
day after day saying :: they make him....him.
day after day saying....

NO I WILL NOT CUT HIS HAIR.

ledger gets most of the attention. between he and his brother.
he has the blonde curly hair. the dimples. the crazy blue eyes.
but the hair always gets noticed first.
the convo usually goes something like this.....

stranger :: look at those curls. {then they look at his brother}. well, i see who takes after you.
me :: yep, he's my little mini-me. he's got my curls. my dimples. my squinty eyes. and his brother is all his daddy.

i can't tell you how many times we have had that conversation.

his hair was part of him. a BIG part. it was his trade mark, if you will.
whether it was negative {from his dad. his dad's parents. his dad's brother} or positive {from mostly everyone except the few i mentioned} :: those curls in a way defined him.
ledger has the curly hair. holden has the straight hair :: this is how new people would tell them apart.
they fit his personality.
and i LOVED them.

his bangs needed trimmed.
they were getting in his eyes. and he gets very irritated when this happens.
they were playing in the sand box yesterday after their nap.
i got the scissors and started cutting.
and cutting. and cutting. and cutting.
until almost all his curls were gone.

i'm still not sure what got into me.
i'm very disturbed.
and i miss my curly head baby boy.
good thing his hair grows fast.
his long locks will be back before i know it {at least that's what i am telling myself}.

the debut of his shorter {bed head} hair.
good thing he's still smiling.
his mommy sure isn't.
sniff sniff.
