L&H's construction company.

there you have it. i decided on a theme. picked the date & time. ordered the invites. we are off running :: and boy does it feel good. i am not. i repeat, i am not going ALL out for this year's party. i pulled off an awesome par-tee for their first birthday. but only because i had some party extraordinaires helping behind the scenes. and the night before. and the morning of. and during. and after.

you get the drift :: i, by no means, did it all by my lonesome.

this year is different. i am doing it all by my lonesome. and we have special visitors in town. thus, i do not want to be stressed out. consumed with. and overloaded with party stuff. and the last reason. well, the boys don't have many friends yet. so, i'm not going to bombard myself with crafting for the few people that will be here. as if they really care about my decorations anyway, right?! it will be fun. we will have plenty for the littles to do. i am looking forward to the stress free kind of two at two party.

before i let you go. i want to share my ah-ha moment with you. it happened as i was browsing the internet looking for the theme of the boys' party. i searched construction theme parties. found the adorable invite above. it was then, that i not only decided to go with the whole construction theme. but, also, and more importantly, it dawned on me that my dad, their pa, has the all time best possible job in L&H's eyes.

how did i just realize this, you ask?!

i'm not really sure. i guess i can only explain it as i've never really seen my dad at work. weird?! probably. i mean, i can tell you what my dad does. he owns his own commercial plumbing business. commercial being the key word. no, my dad doesn't go to your house and fix your toilets. although he could. he doesn't. he puts the plumbing in commercial buildings. think schools. or other of the like kind of buildings.

so, yeah, i can tell you what he does. but i've never ever seen one of his job sights. baffles me really. even as i write this.

so, when i have spoken of my boys' love affair with any and all big tractors. i never put two-n-two together. because i have never seen my dad operate one of those pieces of machinery that my boys are in awe of. but, that's exactly what he does. my dad, the boys' pa, is the man behind the glass that makes those big tractors move. what an incredible job.

my pa, my dad's dad, had an awesome job too. he trained horses for a living. i grew up on the race track. i got to walk around as a little girl, holding my pa's hand, in awe of what he did everyday. i got to go down in the winners circle and have my picture taken. along with my pa's horse. the jockey. the owner. and of course, my beloved pa. when his horse won a race. as a kid. tell me :: does it get any better than that?! talk about being on top of the world.

well, my dad holds the all time. top of the list. coolest jobs out their in my little boys' eyes. i look forward to the day where we can venture to the west coast. take my boys to see my dad at work. it will be a first for both my boys and myself. to see my dad inside one of those big pieces of machinery. i can picture it now.

ledger, my dare devil :: will jump at the chance to get inside. to help move the controllers. and see it move from behind the glass. on cloud nine. holden, will be as far away as possible. his eyes will be great big. little to no blinks. his mouth will be open. and his head will be tilted to the left. he will be amazed to see his pa behind the wheel of his most favorite things to watch.

i look forward to the day.

and for all of you who are blessed to live close to your parents. your kids' grandparents. don't ever take that for granted. because it sucks for those of us who don't have that privilege.
